My
earliest memories of attending an Assemblies of God church center
on three things: the penny march, the small Sunday school cards
and the Pentecostal Evangel. These three have changed over
the years, but none more than my favorite religious magazine, the
Pentecostal Evangel.
Now its changing again.
After nine years, American Horizon, our Home Missions magazine,
has ceased publication and has joined forces with the official voice
of our Fellowship, the Pentecostal Evangel. I am pleased
that Home Missions is teaming up with the Pentecostal Evangel.
Six times a year the Mission America edition of the Evangel
will zero in on what God is doing in America. With a circulation
six times greater than American Horizon, the Pentecostal
Evangel will help us reach a greater segment of our family.
Americas problems can be traced directly to her spiritual
decline. We have been a great nation because of our Christian foundation,
but we are in jeopardy of losing our greatness due to spiritual
and moral decay. Only God can save our country, and He will do it
through the Church and only the Church. The Church is responsible
for the spiritual temperature of this nation not the government.
I thank God for our government, our courts and our educational
system, but these cannot bring revival to this nation. Thankfully,
we are seeing signs of a spiritual awakening. Some reports indicate
there is more prayer going on for revival in America today than
at any other time in our history. God answers prayer. Revival is
coming and, through the special Mission America editions of the
Pentecostal Evangel, we want to keep you informed of the needs
and how God is meeting those needs.
It is also our hope that as you read these Mission America editions
of the Pentecostal Evangel you will intercede for America.
Use the stories and pictures as a prayer guide. Contact the people
involved and let them know you appreciate their ministries and are
praying for them. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct you to those you
should support financially.
More than 2.5 million Americans identify with the Assemblies of
God. That is a huge army. Together we can make a difference.
